Billionaire businessman Femi Otedola has shared rare photographs of Globacom founder Mike Adenuga during a meeting between the two Nigerian business leaders in Monte Carlo, Monaco.
Otedola posted the photographs on Friday, September 25, 2026, showing himself alongside the reclusive businessman inside a luxury hotel and outside a grand building in the principality. The images attracted attention largely because of Adenuga’s famously private lifestyle and his limited public appearances.
In his accompanying message, Otedola described Adenuga as the “Chairman of Chairmen” and highlighted some of the honours bestowed on the businessman.
He referred to Adenuga by his full name, Michael Adeniyi Agbolade Ishola Adenuga Jr., while listing honours including Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger, Commandeur de la Légion d’honneur and Companion of the Order of the Star of Ghana.
Adenuga, 73, is the founder of Globacom, one of Nigeria’s major telecommunications companies, and chairman of Conoil. His business interests have also extended into sectors including oil and gas, banking and real estate.
Unlike some of Nigeria’s most prominent business figures, Adenuga has maintained a notably low public profile. He does not maintain a widely known personal social media presence and rarely attends public events, making photographs of him particularly uncommon.
His daughter, Bella Disu, who serves as Executive Vice Chairman of Globacom, has frequently represented the company and the Adenuga family at corporate and public engagements. Adenuga himself, however, has continued to largely remain away from the public spotlight.
The Monaco photographs also highlighted the longstanding relationship between Otedola and Adenuga. In April 2026, Otedola marked Adenuga’s 73rd birthday by sharing an older photograph of the two businessmen and recalling an encounter more than two decades earlier.
According to Otedola’s account, the meeting took place at his mother Doja Otedola’s 70th birthday celebration in Epe in 2002. Otedola recalled that Adenuga had predicted that he would become successful, a comment he later remembered as their relationship developed over the years.
Otedola has continued to publicly acknowledge Adenuga’s influence and achievements, describing him as an African business icon whose vision has inspired others.
The latest photographs generated reactions across social media, with many users commenting on the unusual sight of Adenuga appearing publicly alongside another prominent Nigerian billionaire.
Some social media users also joked about Otedola’s apparent ability to bring his fellow billionaires into the public eye, given Adenuga’s reputation for avoiding publicity. Others focused on the significance of seeing the two businessmen together in Monaco.
The meeting also comes against the backdrop of Monaco’s reputation as a destination for wealthy international business figures, with Otedola maintaining a residence in the principality.
For Adenuga, however, the photographs represent another uncommon public appearance for a businessman whose career has been marked by substantial influence in Nigeria’s telecommunications and energy sectors but relatively little personal exposure.
