The Ogun State Police Command has arrested 11 suspects and recovered two suspected stolen vehicles, three firearms and 25 Automated Teller Machine cards during a series of operations conducted across the state.
The command said the operations took place between September 16 and 26, 2026, as part of its ongoing efforts to combat criminal activities and improve security across Ogun State. The Police Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed the development in a statement issued on Sunday.
According to Babaseyi, the operations were carried out under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, and involved intelligence-led interventions and targeted enforcement activities.
He said the recovered items included two suspected stolen vehicles, three firearms, 25 ATM cards, several mobile phones and assorted electrical materials. The police also impounded eight vehicles for allegedly obstructing traffic around the Sagamu Interchange Bridge during a separate “No Parking” enforcement operation.
One of the major breakthroughs occurred in the Owode Egba area, where police detectives recovered a commercial TVS motorcycle suspected to have been stolen. The motorcycle was recovered at Mokoloki Village on September 17, following a complaint lodged with the police a day earlier.
Two suspects, identified as Rasheed Abdul and Saula Meshinoye, were arrested in connection with the alleged theft. The police, however, said a third suspect, identified as Saheed, remained at large.
The command said investigation into the motorcycle theft was ongoing, while efforts were being made to apprehend the fleeing suspect.
In another operation, officers attached to the Olorunda Division intercepted three persons along Ayetoro Road on September 19. The individuals were allegedly transporting stolen electrical materials on a motorcycle.
Police said the arrest followed operational activities aimed at disrupting the movement of stolen property. Investigators are also working to identify other persons who may have been involved in the alleged activities.
Meanwhile, operatives of the Igbesa Division arrested a 45-year-old man, Ameachine Anthony, on September 22 in connection with an alleged N2.5m fraud.
The latest arrests add to a series of operations conducted by the Ogun State Police Command in recent months as the authorities intensify efforts against robbery, vehicle theft, fraud and other criminal activities.
The command has repeatedly emphasised intelligence gathering and targeted operations as part of its strategy for tackling crime across the state. Earlier in September, the Nigeria Police Force reported that nationwide operations between September 12 and 18 resulted in the recovery of 52 stolen vehicles and the arrest of 177 high-profile criminal suspects.
The Ogun Command has also recently reported arrests linked to armed robbery and vehicle theft. In one August operation, police arrested two suspected members of an armed robbery syndicate and recovered three locally made pistols and 18 live cartridges.
The command said the latest operations demonstrate its continued focus on preventing crime and recovering stolen property. However, investigations into the suspects arrested in the September operations remain ongoing, and the allegations against them have yet to be determined by a court.
The police urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities or security concerns to law enforcement authorities.
The command also provided its Gateway Shield distress line, 0800 000 9111, alongside emergency numbers 09164859299 and 09154293464, for residents requiring police assistance or wishing to provide credible security information.
As investigations continue, police said further arrests could follow, particularly in cases where suspects who remain at large are linked to the alleged thefts and other offences uncovered during the operations.
