The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has dismantled an alleged international cocaine trafficking cartel operating through Nigeria, arresting a social media influencer identified as Afolabi Kazeem Michael, popularly known as “KC Luxury.”
The NDLEA said the operation resulted in the seizure of 184.50 kilogrammes of cocaine, describing it as the largest cocaine seizure made through a courier company in Nigeria. The illicit consignment was allegedly intended for onward distribution through international routes linking Nigeria with the United Kingdom, other parts of Europe and Asia.
According to the agency, KC Luxury, who was described as a self-styled luxury goods dealer and social media influencer, was allegedly the Nigerian arrowhead of the syndicate. He was arrested while attempting to leave the country through Lagos.
The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the NDLEA, Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd.), disclosed the development on Tuesday while addressing journalists in Lagos.
Marwa said the investigation began after operatives intercepted a consignment containing 184.50kg of cocaine concealed for export through a courier logistics channel in Lagos.
Following the seizure, the NDLEA chairman ordered the establishment of a Special Investigation Team to trace the wider network behind the shipment, including couriers, intermediaries and those suspected of coordinating the international operation.
The investigation subsequently led authorities to Afolabi Kazeem Michael, popularly known online as KC Luxury, who the agency identified as a key figure in the alleged Nigerian operation.
The NDLEA said the cartel intended to generate approximately N39 billion from the seized consignment through its international distribution network.
The agency’s investigation is expected to focus on identifying other members of the syndicate, its international connections and the routes allegedly used to move cocaine through Nigeria.
Marwa described the operation as one of the most significant narcotics investigations undertaken by the agency in recent times, particularly because of the quantity of cocaine intercepted and the alleged international reach of the network.
The seizure also highlights the increasing use of courier and logistics channels by international drug trafficking organisations to conceal and transport narcotics across borders.
By intercepting the consignment before it could leave Nigeria, the NDLEA said it had disrupted a major shipment and potentially prevented a substantial quantity of cocaine from reaching international markets.
The arrest of KC Luxury has also attracted public attention because of his profile on social media and his activities as a luxury goods dealer. However, the allegations against him remain subject to investigation and due legal process.
The NDLEA is expected to continue interrogating the suspects and tracing financial and logistical links connected to the alleged cartel.
The agency’s latest operation forms part of its broader campaign against drug trafficking and the use of Nigeria as a transit point for international narcotics networks.
Authorities have increasingly targeted not only drug couriers but also individuals suspected of financing, coordinating and organising trafficking operations.
The seizure of 184.50kg of cocaine and the arrest of an alleged key Nigerian figure therefore represent a significant development in the agency’s efforts to dismantle organised drug trafficking networks.
As investigations continue, the NDLEA is expected to provide further information on additional arrests, the international members of the alleged syndicate and the ultimate destination of the seized cocaine.
The agency has maintained that its focus remains on disrupting the entire drug supply chain—from couriers and distributors to financiers and alleged masterminds—rather than merely arresting individual drug carriers.
