Kosoko, Toyin Abraham Join Lagos APC Campaign Council

Veteran actor Jide Kosoko, Nollywood actresses Eniola Badmus, Toyin Abraham-Ajeyemi and Bimbo Akintola, as well as prominent Fuji musicians, have been named among 33 entertainment industry figures appointed to the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress campaign council ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The entertainers are members of the newly constituted Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate of the Lagos APC Campaign Council. The structure was released on Thursday by the Kadri Obafemi Hamzat Media Centre, ahead of the formal inauguration of the campaign council scheduled for Friday, September 18, 2026, at the APC Secretariat on ACME Road, Ikeja.

According to the published list, Toke Benson-Awoyinka will serve as Director of the Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate, while Kosoko was named Co-Director. Badmus will serve as Deputy Director.

Akeem Alimi, popularly known as Ajala Jalingo, was appointed Secretary, while Dare Olateju was named Assistant Secretary.

The directorate brings together personalities from Nigeria’s film, music and entertainment industries, particularly figures with strong connections to Lagos’ creative sector.

Among the members are veteran Yoruba actor Adebayo Salami, popularly known as Oga Bello, as well as Saheed Balogun, Bukky Wright, Fathia Balogun, Yinka Quadri and Tayo Sobola.

Other members include Abiola Adebayo, Remi Oshodi, Foluke Daramola, Kikelomo Balogun, Bopo Oyekan Ismaila, Rasaq Yusuf, Aderinola Philips, Olamide Maja and Abbey Lanre.

Toyin Abraham-Ajeyemi is also listed as a member of the directorate, alongside Bimbo Akintola. The inclusion of the actors places several well-known Nollywood personalities within the APC’s formal campaign structure for the forthcoming election cycle.

The Fuji music industry also has a significant representation on the list. Wasiu Alabi Pasuma, Abass Akande Obesere and Adewale Ayuba are among the members, alongside Sulaimon Alao Adekunle, popularly known as Malaika; Akorede Babatunde Okunola, known as Osupa; and Temitope Adekunle, popularly known as Small Doctor.

Other names on the list include Sule Adiro Ataweye, Yemisi Falaye, Leke Babatunde Akinrowo, Kayode Fahm and Aruna Ishola.

The Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate is one component of the broader Lagos APC campaign council, which is being organised ahead of the 2027 elections. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is listed as Chairman of the campaign council, while his deputy, Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, is the Deputy Chairman.

The campaign council’s wider structure includes various directorates and committees responsible for different aspects of political mobilisation and engagement.

The decision to establish a dedicated Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate places the creative industry within the party’s formal campaign organisation. The sector includes actors, musicians, producers, media personalities and other professionals whose public visibility gives them substantial platforms for communicating with different audiences.

The move comes as political parties across Nigeria intensify preparations for the 2027 elections. With Lagos remaining one of the country’s most politically significant states and a major centre of Nigeria’s entertainment industry, the mobilisation of prominent creative personalities has become part of the wider political engagement taking place ahead of the elections.

The APC campaign council is expected to begin its activities following its inauguration on Friday.

The full Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate comprises 33 members, with Benson-Awoyinka, Kosoko, Badmus, Alimi and Olateju occupying the principal leadership positions. The remaining members will serve as representatives within the directorate.

The appointments bring together established names from Nollywood, Yoruba theatre and Fuji music, giving the directorate a broad representation across Lagos’ entertainment landscape.

As the 2027 election season approaches, the campaign council will be expected to coordinate the party’s activities across different constituencies, while the Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate will focus specifically on engagement with the creative sector and its audiences.
