Former Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) president Emeka Rollas has publicly apologised to Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, her mother, Rita Daniels, and Senator Ned Nwoko over remarks he made during the couple’s highly publicised marital crisis.
Rollas issued the apology on October 8, 2026, nearly a year after speaking publicly about allegations of substance abuse involving Regina. His earlier comments, made in November 2025, included claims that he had witnessed incidents on movie sets and believed the actress needed assistance. The allegations have not been independently established as fact.
In his apology, Rollas acknowledged that although he believed in the issues he raised at the time, he regretted how and when he addressed them.
“I regret the timing, the platform and the manner in which I handled it,” he said. “I made those statements at a time when a family was going through a deeply personal and difficult period. I shouldn’t have taken that path.”
The former AGN president explained that a recent encounter with Rita Daniels, during which mutual acquaintances reportedly attempted to reconcile them, encouraged him to reflect on the controversy.
He extended his apology to Regina, her mother, Nwoko and their respective families, as well as the AGN Board of Trustees and several colleagues he had mentioned during the dispute.
Rollas also stressed that he would accept responsibility for his actions regardless of whether those involved chose to forgive him. He said the experience had reminded him that leadership required not only the courage to speak but also the humility to recognise when a situation could have been handled differently.
The apology is significant because the dispute attracted widespread attention across Nigeria’s entertainment industry, drawing public reactions from celebrities and intensifying discussions about privacy, substance abuse allegations and the responsibilities of influential figures when commenting on personal matters.
Regina Daniels and Nwoko’s marital dispute became a major topic of public discussion in 2025, with competing claims circulating online. The latest development may open the door to reconciliation, although it remains unclear whether all parties have accepted Rollas’ apology.
