ADC Benue Suspends Members Over Alleged Anti-Party Activities, Sets Up Probe Panel

Makurdi, March 28, 2026 —
The Benue State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced the suspension of several members over alleged anti-party activities, violations of the party’s constitution, and disregard for constituted authority.
The decision was reached during a State Executive Committee (SEC) meeting held on March 27, 2026, at the party’s secretariat located at Jonah Jang Crescent in Makurdi.
According to the statement, the affected members are to serve a three-month suspension. In addition, a seven-member disciplinary committee has been constituted to investigate the allegations and submit its report within 14 days.
All suspended individuals have been directed to hand over any party materials in their possession and to refrain from participating in party activities pending the outcome of the panel.

Speaking on the development, the State Chairman, Celestine Orbunde, urged party members to remain focused and continue with ongoing activities. He also called for caution in engagements relating to the suspended members to preserve party unity and discipline.
The announcement was conveyed by the State Publicity Secretary, Lubem Aboh, who reaffirmed the party’s commitment to upholding internal democracy and enforcing its rules.
The move signals a firm stance by the ADC leadership in Benue State to address internal dissent and reinforce party discipline amid evolving political dynamics.
