Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has expressed relief following the successful rescue of the schoolchildren and teachers who were reportedly abducted in the state, thanking President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and security agencies for their efforts in securing the victims’ release.
Reacting to the development, Makinde described the rescue as a significant relief for the affected families and residents of Oyo State. He praised the coordinated efforts of security operatives, intelligence agencies, and other stakeholders whose collaboration led to the safe return of the victims.
The governor also acknowledged the support of President Tinubu, noting that the Federal Government’s intervention and cooperation with state authorities played an important role in the rescue operation. He said the successful outcome demonstrates the importance of collaboration between federal and state institutions in addressing security challenges across the country.
Makinde reiterated his administration’s commitment to strengthening security across Oyo State through increased investment in intelligence gathering, surveillance technology, and community-based policing initiatives. According to him, protecting lives and property remains a top priority, particularly the safety of pupils, students, teachers, and other vulnerable groups.
The governor further assured residents that the state government would continue working closely with security agencies to prevent similar incidents and improve emergency response capabilities. He emphasized that schools must remain safe environments where children can learn without fear.
The rescue has been welcomed by parents, education stakeholders, and community leaders, many of whom commended the swift response of security personnel while urging authorities to intensify efforts to tackle kidnapping and other criminal activities targeting schools.
