Police Arrest Two Suspects for Theft, Illegal Firearm in Nasarawa

The Nigeria Police Force has arrested two suspects in Nasarawa State over alleged involvement in theft and unlawful possession of firearms.

According to police authorities, the arrests were made during separate operations carried out by officers as part of ongoing efforts to combat crime and enhance public safety across the state.

Police spokespersons said one of the suspects was apprehended in connection with a theft-related case, while the second was arrested after officers reportedly recovered a firearm believed to be in his possession without the necessary legal authorization.

Security operatives also recovered exhibits during the operations, including items allegedly linked to the offences under investigation.

The Nasarawa State Police Command stated that preliminary investigations are ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the cases and whether other individuals may be connected to the alleged crimes.

Police authorities reiterated their commitment to tackling criminal activities, including armed violence, illegal possession of weapons, theft, and other offences that threaten public peace and security.

The command urged residents to continue cooperating with security agencies by providing credible information that could assist in preventing crime and apprehending suspects.

Officials also warned members of the public against the unlawful possession of firearms, stressing that anyone found in violation of existing laws would face prosecution.

The suspects are expected to be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.

The arrests come amid broader efforts by law enforcement agencies to strengthen security across Nasarawa State and neighboring areas through intelligence-led operations, patrols, and community engagement initiatives.

Police authorities have assured residents that measures remain in place to safeguard lives and property while maintaining pressure on criminal elements operating within the state.
