Comedian and content creator Carter Efe defeated singer Portable in a celebrity boxing match held at the “Chaos in the Ring 4” event on May 1 at the Balmoral Convention Centre in Lagos.
The bout, which drew significant online attention and a packed audience, saw Carter Efe dominate across four rounds, ultimately being declared the winner and reportedly walking away with a ₦50 million prize.
The match, part of a growing trend of celebrity boxing events in Nigeria, featured intense exchanges between both entertainers, with Carter Efe maintaining control throughout most of the contest.
However, the aftermath of the fight quickly turned chaotic, as Portable reacted strongly to the result, making a series of public claims regarding the event’s organisation. The singer alleged that he had received an upfront payment of ₦45 million and accused organisers of manipulating betting activities reportedly worth billions of naira.
Portable also issued a challenge for a rematch, calling out promoter Habby and demanding a ₦300 million bout, further escalating tensions following his defeat.
In contrast, Carter Efe attributed his victory to motivation drawn from past exchanges and online “disses” between the two entertainers, suggesting that pre-fight rivalry played a role in his performance.
The event also sparked additional social media drama when Carter Efe and skit maker Shank engaged in a brief online exchange over a congratulatory post, adding another layer of controversy to the already viral moment.
Fans have since taken to social media to debate the outcome of the fight, with opinions divided over the performance and the subsequent claims made by Portable. While some praised the event as entertaining and innovative, others raised concerns about transparency and organisation.
The “Chaos in the Ring” series continues to attract attention as Nigerian celebrities increasingly participate in boxing exhibitions that blend entertainment, rivalry, and performance sport.
Organisers of the event have yet to officially respond to the allegations raised by Portable, while discussions about a possible rematch continue to circulate online.
