The Village Boys Movement (VBM), a grassroots coalition of young Nigerians across the country, has declared its unwavering solidarity with Peter Obi, reaffirming its commitment to his leadership and vision for a “New Nigeria.”
In a strongly worded statement signed by its leader, Maazi Tochukwu Ezeoke, the group described Obi as the “undisputed champion” of a transformative national project anchored on integrity, competence, and inclusive governance. The movement emphasized that its support goes beyond passive endorsement, stressing that its members remain “solidly, fiercely, and irreversibly” aligned with Obi’s political direction.
The statement comes amid ongoing political consultations by Obi in what the group termed a “rebased Nigerian political space.” VBM maintained that it fully trusts his judgment and decisions, pledging to stand by him regardless of the path he chooses.
Highlighting what it called Obi’s track record of prudence, justice, and equity, the group contrasted his leadership style with what it described as a political environment often characterized by “deceit and desperation.” According to the movement, Obi represents hope for millions of Nigerians, particularly young people and underserved communities who seek meaningful change.
The Village Boys Movement further underscored its long-term commitment, distancing itself from opportunistic political alliances. “We are not seasonal supporters. We are not political gamblers,” the statement read, adding that its members remain ready to support Obi through every phase of the nation’s political evolution.
Reaffirming its loyalty, the group declared its readiness to follow Obi “every step, every battle, every victory,” expressing optimism that Nigeria can be rebuilt and repositioned under visionary leadership.
The statement concluded with a direct message to Obi, urging him to lead with confidence while assuring him of the unwavering backing of the movement.
