Peter Obi Donates N25 Million to Health and Islamic Schools in Bauchi

Former Anambra State governor and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has donated a total of N25 million to three educational and health institutions in Bauchi State.

During a visit to the state on April 23, 2026, Obi allocated N5 million as a scholarship fund to Madarasatu Intisharul Islam Qismu Tahfizul Qur’an, while Malikiya College of Nursing Sciences and Thomas Moore School of Health each received N10 million.

The donation to Thomas Moore School of Health follows an earlier N10 million contribution by Obi for laboratory upgrades, with the latest funds aimed at supporting scholarships for students.

Speaking during the visit, Obi emphasized the critical role of healthcare and education in national development, noting that investments in human capital remain key to improving societal outcomes.

The former presidential candidate has been known for his philanthropic interventions, particularly in the health sector. Reports indicate that his personal donations to health-related causes in 2025 exceeded N250 million, drawing attention to private sector contributions amid ongoing challenges in Nigeria’s healthcare system.

His latest gesture has been welcomed by beneficiaries, with many noting its potential impact on access to education and healthcare services in the state.
