Former Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Solomon Dalung, has described the proposed Obi–Kwankwaso (OK) ticket as the best option for the African Democratic Congress and for Nigerians ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking on the growing coalition within ADC, Dalung said adopting former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi as the party’s presidential flagbearer under the so-called “OK Movement” was a “fantastic and wonderful idea,” stressing that if the party eventually settles for that decision, “it’s the best.” However, he maintained that as a party leader, he must remain fair to all aspirants within the party and cannot openly campaign for one candidate.
Dalung also emphasized that ADC has many capable figures who can challenge President Bola Tinubu in 2027, noting that the party’s strength lies not in one individual but in a transparent primary process where all members would support whoever emerges as the candidate. He stated that the party had resolved to back the winner of a free and fair primary, insisting that defeating Tinubu is a collective party mission, not a personal ambition.
He further warned against injustice or manipulation in ADC’s internal process, saying the party must avoid repeating the same political errors members left behind in the APC, or risk serious internal trouble.
