Peter Obi Hails ADC Convention Success, Urges Shift to Nation-Building

Former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has described the successful conduct of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) national convention as a defining moment in Nigeria’s democratic journey, commending party leaders and supporters for their resilience.
In a statement following the convention, Obi praised the leadership of the party under Chairman David Mark, noting that his calm and steady guidance provided direction at a critical time.
He also acknowledged the efforts of the convention organising committee led by Liyel Imoke, whose dedication and attention to detail ensured the smooth and successful hosting of the event.
Obi extended his appreciation to delegates, party faithful, volunteers, and supporters across Nigeria and beyond, stating that their commitment reaffirmed the strength of democracy when citizens remain steadfast.
He further thanked Nigerians at large for their resilience and belief in democratic ideals, emphasizing that the power of the people remains stronger than forces that seek to undermine it.
While celebrating the convention’s success, Obi cautioned against complacency, urging stakeholders to move swiftly from celebration to responsibility. He highlighted pressing national challenges, including economic hardship, insecurity, unemployment, and widespread uncertainty, which he said require urgent and decisive action.
According to him, the convention must serve as a renewed commitment to nation-building, focusing on practical solutions, strengthening institutions, and restoring hope to millions of Nigerians.
Obi stressed that unity, sacrifice, and integrity are essential in moving the country forward, calling on all stakeholders to place national interest above personal and political considerations.
Reiterating his long-standing message, he concluded with optimism, stating that “a new Nigeria is possible.”
