ADC Alleges Selective Justice in Cases Involving El-Rufai, Malami

Abuja, March 3, 2026 – The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has accused the Federal Government of applying selective justice in its handling of cases involving former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, and former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the party alleged that both men have been subjected to prolonged detentions and repeated transfers between security agencies without the prompt filing of formal charges, in contrast to other recent cases where suspects were granted swift bail.

El-Rufai, who recently aligned with the ADC, is reportedly under investigation by multiple agencies, including the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC). He has also filed a lawsuit against one of the agencies, alleging violations of his fundamental rights.

Malami and members of his family were recently remanded in prison custody pending the determination of their bail applications, further intensifying political debate around the cases.

The ADC called for transparency and equal application of the law, insisting that anti-corruption efforts under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu must be carried out without political bias. Supporters of the affected officials have described the developments as politically motivated, while the government has maintained that its actions are in line with due process.

The unfolding legal battles continue to draw national attention amid heightened political tensions.
