Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has warned members of the All Progressives Congress in the state against engaging in activities capable of undermining the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Aiyedatiwa issued the warning on Thursday, September 17, 2026, during the inauguration of the Ondo State chapter of the City Boy Movement, a support group mobilising for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu.
Represented at the event by the Ondo State APC Chairman, Babatunde Kolawole, the governor urged members of the group and other party supporters to take their mobilisation efforts to the grassroots across the state’s 18 local government areas.
He said his administration maintained a zero-tolerance position on anti-party activities, warning that actions capable of weakening the APC would not be tolerated.
Aiyedatiwa also called on party members to mobilise support for President Tinubu as well as APC candidates contesting the National Assembly and State House of Assembly elections in 2027.
“Let your members go into your various wards and units and canvass massively for Mr. President,” the governor said in his remarks, as reported by The PUNCH.
The governor’s warning comes as political parties and support groups intensify preparations for the 2027 general elections. In Ondo State, APC structures have increasingly focused on strengthening their presence at ward and polling-unit levels as the election approaches.
The inauguration of the City Boy Movement’s state chapter is part of those mobilisation efforts. The movement’s state director, Oluwafemi Ayejusunle, said its immediate objective was to establish and strengthen structures from the state level down to individual polling units.
According to him, the organisation had three members assigned to each unit and was working to consolidate its grassroots structure ahead of the elections.
Ayejusunle said the group’s mandate was to mobilise support for Tinubu’s re-election, with particular attention to youths, women, markets, campuses and communities. He also said the group would promote the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The South-West Youth Leader of the APC, Daramola Adesuyi, also commended the organisers of the movement and acknowledged the support provided by the Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, and Seyi Tinubu.
The governor’s position is also consistent with earlier calls for unity within the Ondo APC. The Ondo State Radiovision Corporation previously reported that Aiyedatiwa had warned party members against activities capable of weakening the APC and urged the party’s structures to remain united ahead of the 2027 elections.
The issue of alleged anti-party activities has become a recurring subject in Nigeria’s political discourse ahead of the 2027 elections. In a separate report, Aiyedatiwa denied allegations that he was backing opposition candidates against APC candidates, saying he had “zero tolerance for anti-party activities” and had never engaged in such activities.
Beyond the state-level mobilisation, Aiyedatiwa’s latest directive places particular emphasis on ward and polling-unit structures. The governor has previously identified the grassroots as critical to the party’s organisation ahead of the elections.
For the City Boy Movement, the immediate task is to translate its state-level inauguration into an operational grassroots network capable of reaching voters across Ondo’s 18 local government areas.
As political preparations for 2027 gather momentum, the governor’s warning signals the importance his administration places on party cohesion and coordinated mobilisation. It also puts members and support groups under pressure to ensure that their political activities remain aligned with the APC’s electoral objectives.
