Nigerian businessman and socialite Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, has declared that Nigerians of Igbo extraction will work to secure President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in the 2027 presidential election.
Cubana Chief Priest, who serves as the Imo State director of the City Boy Movement, made the statement while addressing supporters of the political group in Imo State. He said the South-East now has a stronger channel of communication with the presidency through Tinubu’s son, Seyi Tinubu.
“We Igbos now have access to Mr President Tinubu through his son, Seyi Tinubu. That’s why we’re doing everything to make sure he’s re-elected,” he said.
The socialite also claimed that support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) was growing in Imo State, describing the state as having “zero competition” for the party. He urged supporters to remain committed to Tinubu’s political agenda.
His latest comments are part of his increasingly visible campaign for Tinubu ahead of the 2027 election. Earlier this year, Cubana Chief Priest urged Igbos to support the president, arguing that remaining politically aligned with the government could give the South-East greater influence in national affairs.
The businessman had previously acknowledged supporting Peter Obi during the 2023 presidential election but later said he regretted the decision. He argued that Igbos should avoid what he described as wasting their votes and instead pursue political engagement that could advance their interests.
The comments are significant as political parties and support groups intensify mobilisation ahead of the 2027 presidential election. The South-East remains an important political battleground, particularly with Peter Obi expected to remain a major figure in the opposition.
Cubana Chief Priest’s position, however, represents his personal political advocacy and does not establish how voters across the South-East will ultimately vote.
