Barcelona have moved two points clear at the top of the 2026/27 LaLiga table after maintaining their perfect start to the season with a commanding 5-0 victory over Valencia.
The defending champions now have 12 points from four matches, having won all their league games so far. They have scored 17 goals and conceded only two, giving them a goal difference of +15.
Lamine Yamal was among the standout performers against Valencia, scoring twice as Barcelona produced another dominant attacking display. Fermín López, Raphinha and Pedri also found the net in the emphatic victory.
The result opened a two-point gap between Barcelona and second-placed Alavés, who have 10 points after four matches. Alavés maintained their unbeaten start by defeating Osasuna 5-2, with Lucas Boyé scoring a hat-trick.
Real Madrid, meanwhile, dropped to third place with nine points after suffering their first defeat of the campaign. José Mourinho’s side were beaten 1-0 by Real Betis, with Troy Parrott scoring the decisive goal in the 81st minute.
Madrid had started the season with three consecutive victories but were unable to respond after falling behind in Seville. The defeat leaves them three points behind Barcelona and one point behind Alavés in the early standings.
The early table is significant because Barcelona have quickly established themselves as the team to beat, while Real Madrid now face pressure to close the gap. However, with the season still in its opening stages, the standings remain subject to change.
Barcelona will next travel to face Levante on September 13, while Real Madrid are scheduled to host Rayo Vallecano on September 12.
