Salt, the sister of Nigerian Afrobeats singer Ayra Starr, has sparked an online debate after sharing her views on relationships, financial power and dating a man who earns less than her.
Salt made the comments during an appearance on the Wahala Podcast, where she was asked whether she could date or marry a man who was financially less successful than her.
In response, Salt said she believed having greater financial strength would give her more influence in the relationship.
“I will control him o,” she said.
When asked whether she was serious about her position, she doubled down on the statement, describing herself as self-aware enough to understand how she would behave if she were the wealthier partner.
“Yes, I will and I know myself. I am very self-aware, I will control you,” Salt added.
She, however, maintained that earning more money would not necessarily change her expectations of her partner. According to her, she would still expect the man to provide financially even if she had greater wealth.
“Even though I am richer, he will still be providing,” she said.
Salt further disclosed that she would prefer not to reveal the full extent of her wealth to her partner, saying he would not necessarily know that she had substantial money.
