The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has approved the promotion of 7,472 personnel as part of efforts to strengthen its workforce and improve road safety operations across Nigeria.
The beneficiaries comprise 2,134 officers and 5,338 marshals. According to the FRSC, the promotion recognises personnel who have demonstrated commitment, discipline, competence and dedication during their years of service.
The agency said the exercise is part of its human capital development strategy and is intended to reinforce its leadership structure while motivating personnel to deliver more effectively.
Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed described the promotion as both an achievement and a new responsibility for the beneficiaries. He urged those elevated to use their new positions to demonstrate stronger professionalism, accountability and leadership.
“Every new rank must translate into a higher level of professionalism, accountability, leadership and service delivery,” Mohammed said.
He also emphasised that the effectiveness of the FRSC depends on more than patrol vehicles, technology and enforcement equipment, noting the importance of having disciplined and committed personnel.
The Corps Marshal urged the newly promoted officers and marshals to maintain high standards of conduct, treat road users with respect and uphold the integrity of the organisation.
The development comes as the FRSC continues its efforts to reduce road traffic crashes and improve compliance with traffic regulations nationwide. The agency considers a well-trained and motivated workforce essential to achieving its road safety objectives.
The promotion is therefore expected to strengthen the capacity of personnel working in various commands and units across the country while giving experienced officers greater responsibilities.
The newly promoted personnel will be decorated with their new ranks between Wednesday, August 26 and Friday, August 28, 2026. The ceremonies will be conducted by relevant heads of departments, corps officers, special units and commanding officers.
The latest promotion forms part of the FRSC’s broader mandate to protect lives, improve road-user behaviour and create safer roads. As the agency intensifies enforcement, public education and technological interventions, the performance of its personnel will remain central to its efforts to improve road safety outcomes in Nigeria.
